Lake Miramar Trail is great for stroller walks, with its five-mile paved loop around the water. The Visitor Center Loop is a bit longer, but offers more shade. Drive-in movies were also introduced – a way to bring people outdoors, safely, during the pandemic. In 2020, Virtual Summer Movies in the Park were initiated with 24-hour access to select films and accompanying activity kits. The program has continued to evolve with new movies, new parks, new participating partners and new options to make events even more accessible and inclusive. This well-attended community activity deterred inappropriate after-hours park use and loitering and gave residents an opportunity to feel safe in their local park, thus encouraging future visits. Come early and get a good seat! The Summer Movies in the Park event series began in 2007 as a ‘take back our parks’ initiative, giving local residents a reason to visit their local county and city parks for a free and safe evening event.
